On November 16, H.E. Ambassador Liu Jin Pays a Courtesy Call on H.E. Vice President Alieu Badara Joof at the State House.

Ambassador Liu said that The recently concluded 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) drew a grand blueprint for China's development. It determined that the central task of the CPC would be to realize the Second Centenary Goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects. China's domestic and foreign policies are stable, coherent and clear. We consider national development to be the top priority in governance. We will always uphdld an independent foreign policy of peace. China and The Gambia are good friends and partners. China attaches great importance to the development of China-Gambia relations, and appreciates The Gambia’s adherence to the one-China principle. We are willing to uphold the principle of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith, consolidate friendship, deepen mutual trust, and promote cooperation with The Gambia, to support long-term and sustainable development of The Gambia, and to jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries.

H.E. Vice President Alieu Badara Joof thanked China’s assistance in forms of cash and supplies which will be of great help for post-flood rehabilitation and reconstruction. He emphasized that the relationship between The Gambia and China has developed rapidly in recent years, and the two countries have conducted fruitful cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, health, education and other fields. The Gambian Government is committed to developing Gambia-China friendship, firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and is willing to further deepen cooperation with China to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win results.

After the meeting, Ambassador Liu handed over the cheque of GMD 11,740,000, as well as 600 bags of rice and 520 drums of cooking oil, donated by the Chinese Government, and gave an interview to reporters.
