On December 5, Hon. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, came to the Chinese Embassy in The Gambia to mourn the passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin, former President of the People’s Republic of China. 

Hon. Minister Tangara said that former President Jiang Zemin was a great leader who contributed greatly in building China a great nation that not only stands tall in the concert of nations but also represents hope and justice in the world. On behalf of the government and people of The Gambia and on his own behalf, Hon. Minister Tangara conveyed  sincere condolences to the government and people of China. Hon. Minister Tangara reiterated the commitment of The Gambia to deepen the close ties of friendship between two countries, to adhere to the One-China policy, and to stand as a reliable friend and partner of China.
