On December 28, H.E. Ambassador Liu Jin paid a courtesy call on Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Speaker of the National Assembly of The Gambia.

H.E. Ambassador Liu conveyed greetings from H.E. Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, to Hon. Speaker Jatta. H.E. Ambassador Liu said that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China drew a grand blueprint for China's development, which is not only significant for China's development, but will also have a profound impact on the world. Guided by the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, based on the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith, as well as the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests, China will deepen its partnership with Africa and The Gambia, to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Legislature cooperation is an important sector of China-Gambia relations, and the two sides should further enhance mutual understanding, consolidate mutual political trust, deepen exchanges and cooperation, and promote the healthy and stable development of China-Gambia relations.

Hon. Speaker Jatta thanked H.E. Chairman Li for the greetings, and asked H.E. Ambassador Liu to convey his hearty greetings and good wishes to H.E. Chairman Li. Hon. Speaker said that he closely followed China's development in the past several decades and was impressed with the brilliant achievements made by China. The friendship and cooperation between The Gambia and China have been fruitful, and all circles of the Gambia society are grateful for China's selfless support to The Gambia. The National Assembly of The Gambia attaches great importance to the Gambia-China friendship, and firmly adheres to the One-China policy. The National Assembly is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the National People's Congress of China, to contribute more to the development of Gambia-China relations.
