On 23 March, H.E. Ambassador Liu Jin met with Hon. Bannie E.F. Manga, Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church The Gambia. The meeting was also attended by Hon. Dembo Bojang, Presidential Adviser on Religious Affair, Hon. Hendry Gomez, Special Presidential Adviser and Mr. Zhou Ningyu, Counsellor of Political Affairs of the Chinese Embassy.

H.E. Ambassador Liu briefed on the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by H.E. President Xi Jinping and stressed that the Chinese people fully enjoy freedom of religious belief. He appreciated the religious policy of the Gambian government and the harmonious coexistence of different religions in The Gambia. He expressed China's willingness to deepen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation with The Gambia, enhance mutual understanding, consolidate traditional friendship and join hands to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Hon. Manga expressed his pleasure at receiving the Chinese ambassador for the first time and introduced the activities of The Methodist Church The Gambia in the fields of agriculture, health and education, saying that the Christians in The Gambia live in harmony with Muslims and work together to promote social stability and the well-being of the Gambian people. He is glad to see that the friendship between The Gambia and China continuously benefit the two peoples.
