On 2 August, H.E. Ambassador LIU Jin met with Hon. Minister of Health Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh and signed the Protocol between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of The Gambia on Dispatching China Medical Team to work in The Gambia (2023-2027).

H.E. Ambassador LIU said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of China dispatching first  medical team abroad, and the signing of the Protocol is a manifestation of the friendship between the Chinese and Gambian people as well as bilateral medical and health cooperation. H.E Ambassador LIU reviewed the history and work of China Medical Team and said the sixth batch of China Medical Team will provide quality medical services to the Gambian people as in the past.

Hon. Dr. Samateh praised the Chinese doctors for their excellent medical skills and their important contribution to the Gambian public medical services, talent training and development of national health system, and expressed his full support for the work of the China Medical Team, hoping that the two sides will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields of medical and health care.

All the members of the sixth batch of China Medical Team participated in the event.
