On November 27, H.E. Ambassador Liu Jin met with FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Africa, Mr. Abebe Haile-Gabriel. 

Ambassador Liu said that agriculture is one of the key sectors of cooperation between China and The Gambia. Since the re-establishment of diplomatic relations of the two countries, China has launched two consecutive phases of agricultural technical assistance projects in The Gambia, which have achieved fruitful outcomes; and has continued to provide food assitance to The Gambia to help it realize the goal of zero hunger. China will implement the initiatives of the President Xi Jinping at the dialogue with African leaders to strengthen agricultural cooperation between the two countries and help the Gambian agricultural modernization process.

Abebe introduced the upcoming FAO Annual Work Conference for the West Africa Region, appreciated the effective cooperation between China and FAO and the Chinese assistance to the agricultural development in The Gambia, and hoped that the two sides would continue to maintain close cooperation, especially carry out South-South cooperation projects well, so as to jointly promote the agricultural development of The Gambia and Africa, and realize food security of Africa.
