On 22 February, H.E. Ambassador Liu Jin attended the decoration ceremony for soldiers who had completed training in China, and jointly decorated the rank of second lieutenant to three soldiers with Chief of Defense Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces Major General Mamat OA Cham.

H.E. Ambassador Liu praised the soldiers for their outstanding performance during their training in China and reviewed the development of bilateral relations between China and The Gambia, especially the exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries. He briefed senior military officers and representatives of the Ministry of Defense on the guiding principles of the Central Conference on Work Related to Foreign Affairs, saying that China is willing to work with The Gambia to promote the bilateral relations and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Major General Mamat OA Cham encouraged the soldiers to be loyal and disciplined, and make full use of what they have learned to give back to the GAF and people. He thanked China for helping the development of The Gambia in various fields, reaffirmed that the GAF adheres to one-China principle and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in people-to-people exchanges, agriculture and so on.
