On December 23, the handover ceremony of rice and medical equipment supplies from the Chinese government was held at the State House. H.E President Adama Barrow and Ambassador Liu Jin attended the ceremony.
H.E. President Barrow said that China provided a new round of food aid and medical supplies to the Gambia shortly after the closing of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, which will effectively benefit the Gambian people's livelihood. He thanked H.E. President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people for the assistance to The Gambia. He reaffirmed that the Gambian government abides by the one-China principle and is committed to developing relations with China to pursue win-win cooperation.
H.E. Ambassador Liu said President Barrow successfully attended the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in September and met with H.E. President Xi Jinping, and the two presidents reached important consensus on future development of China-Gambia relations and announced the elevation of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership, which is of milestone significance. Chinese side will work closely with Gambian side to implement the consensus of the two presidents and the outcomes of the FOCAC Summit, and deepen cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.
