On December 22, Ambassador Liu Jin met with Honorable Rohey Malick Lowe, Mayoress of the Banjul City Council at the Chinese Embassy.
Ambassador Liu handed over to Mayoress Lowe the disaster relief fund, which is provided by Nanning City, the sister city of Banjul, and a letter from the mayor of Nanning City, Liao Liyong. Ambassador Liu said that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and The Gambia, the two countries have continuously deepened cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and mutual support, so as to benefit our two peoples. The kindness of Nanning City is a manifestation of the friendship between the two countries. Exchanges and cooperation between cities are an important part of China-Gambia relations. The Chinese Embassy is willing to strengthen communication and exchanges with the local governments and people from all walks of life of The Gambia, to jointly promote the cooperation and friendship between China and The Gambia.
Mayoress Lowe spoke highly of the relationship between The Gambia and China, and thanked Nanning City for its strong support for Banjul. The funding support is of great significance to the people of Banjul, and Banjul City Council will make good use of it to help the victims restore their livelihoods. Banjul City Council looks forward to actively participating in the cooperation between The Gambia and China on women and youth, information technology, people-to-people exchanges and personnel training, so as to boost the development of China-Gambia relations.
