On 20 November, the Overseas Training Course on Vegetable Crop Cultivation Technology in The Gambia officially launched in Jabangjelly. Economic and Commercial Counsellor Tong Zhan, Permanent Secretary Nyangado of the Ministry of Agriculture, and other officials attended and delivered remarks.

The 30-day program will provide systematic training to 60 Gambian participants, covering vegetable breeding, seed production, cultivation techniques, and greenhouse equipment, while sharing China’s experience in the development of its vegetable industry.
Counsellor Tong highlighted China’s commitment to the principle of “teaching a man to fish,” noting that China continues to support capacity-building programs to help enhance The Gambia’s agricultural technologies.
Permanent Secretary Nyangado commended China’s longstanding support to The Gambia’s agriculture sector, especially its sustained input in capacity building. He encouraged trainees to make full use of the opportunity, apply what they learn, and turn the training outcomes into concrete contributions to the country’s agricultural development.
