On May 13, Ambassador Liu Jin and the Mayor of Banjul Lowe attended the handover ceremony of supplies donated by Nanning to Banjul.

Ambassador Liu Jin stated that sister-city relations constitute an important part of the China-Gambia strategic partnership and can play a positive role. The sanitation trucks and solar street lamps donated by Nanning will benefit the people of Banjul, and on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and The Gambia, help elevate sister-city ties and China-Gambia friendship to a new level.

Mayor Lowe expressed gratitude to Nanning for the donated supplies, noting that a cleaner and brighter urban environment will notably improve people's well-being in terms of health, safety, employment and other livelihood areas. She voiced readiness to further deepen sister-city relations with Nanning.

Nanning and Banjul officially established sister-city relations in 1987.
